Stone Mountain, GA, October 2007
On a sunny October weekend the SMES Cubs visited Stone Mountain for the traditional first campout of the year. On Saturday afternoon the pack hiked en masse to the summit of the mountain, and interspersed a weekend of camp fires, smores, and outdoor activities with fun and games around the creek.
USS Yorktown, Savannah, GA
Over Martin Luther King weekend in 2007 the pack took a trip to the Yorktown, a World War II aircraft carrier. The tour included a visit to Fort Sumter, a tour of a military submarine, and tours of a variety of other navy ships from different eras. The hightlight of the trip was an overnight stay on the aircraft carrier and the ability to tour a floating city that housed 5,000 men. Thirty cubs and parents had a wonderful time!
CNN
The Tigers took a trip to the CNN building in February 2007. Can you spot the future newscaster?
Stone Mountain Camping October 2006
The pack's inaugural camping trip of the year was the first weekend of October at Stone Mountain. After the traffic shock of an unexpected bank holiday weekend, a great time was had by all. Larry Wilson showed up with the biggest grill known to mankind, the proud property of the pack, and the weather for the walk up the mountain and the boys' traditional splashing around in the creek was spectacular.
Bears Day at the Farm, October 2006
The Bears had a great day looking at the animals, fishing, and eating hamburgers afterwards!
Huntsville 2005
In January 2006 the Pack took a memorable trip to the Air and Space museum in Huntsville, AL. On our return we stopped at Cathedral Caverns, a massive cave complex in north-eastern Alabama: the black gap in the background is the entrance.
