Biography

Gareth Young, C.P.A., C.A., M.A. is a principal with Abraxas Business Services, Inc., responsible for helping buyers to find businesses that meet their criteria, and helping business owners develop and execute on achievable exit strategies.

Mr. Young has over a decade of experience as a mergers and acquisitions, strategy, and business development executive, three years running his own consulting practice, and over seven years of Big Four audit practice, and three years of corporate financial and operational accounting. He has also published his first novel, The Grace of Guilt.

Mr. Young formed finanSight in 2006 to provide specialist services small and medium sized businesses and startups, and during this time helped Georgia based businesses recover millions of dollars in tax credits and raise over millions of dollars in startup capital. Prior to founding finanSight, Mr. Young was Executive Director of Corporate Development for BellSouth Corporation in Atlanta, where he was responsible for developing and executing business expansion strategies through M&A, partnerships, and other transactions. Working closely with business units, Mr. Young identified strategic needs and alternative courses of action, and helped the business establish priorities and execute. Where alliances, acquisitions, or divestitures were required, Mr. Young selected appropriate candidates, and staffed and led teams to negotiate, execute and close transactions that realized immediate improvement in operational and financial performance, and laid the foundation for financially responsible sustained growth.

Prior to this Mr. Young spent three years in a special projects finance group at BellSouth where he designed, staffed, and managed due diligence for acquisition and divestiture candidates, assisting with transaction strategy and building operations models. He also performed operational audits, and designed and built a database application to track and report on transaction costs.

Mr. Young began his career at Deloitte, where he spent seven years serving diverse clients in industries including banking, retail, paper and printing, and light engineering, served as a facilitator in the UK national training group, and was regional CPE director in the US. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in the UK and became an audit manager in the UK and the US. He has received a number of awards, including the Elijah Watt Sells Award for the C.P.A. exam.

A graduate of Jesus College, Oxford in the UK, with an M.A. in mathematics, Mr. Young is married and lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children (ages 12 and 14), where he is actively involved in community and spiritual activities.
